Editor's Verdict:

The Intelliflix website has a professional, welcoming feel and a nice, deep blue, colour-scheme which gives it a polished look. The sections that explain their choices of rental plans are nicely laid out, although the various options could perhaps have been explained more clearly. These packages offer competitive value for money, though are not quite as market-busting as the accompanying speil seems to suggest, the exception being their "buy 6 months and get 6 months free" offer which seemed to genuinely represent superior value. Bear in mind that, unlike most of their competitors, some Intelliflix packages are purchased annually rather on an ongoing monthly basis, so in return for the better value for money you will be making a larger commitment. This value for money is also mitigated somewhat by the lack of a proper free trial offer, although from time to time Intelliflix do run other special offers which members can take advantage of.

The service itself works much like many of the other DVD rental sites listed in this category. You create a list of the DVDs you want and however many DVDs your membership option allows you to have at once are sent to you by post. When you're done watching them, you just pop them in the pre-paid return envelope. As soon as they receive your returned DVDs they'll mail you your next batch of DVDs from your list. Delivery either way takes 1-3 working days. Unlike all but the biggest online rental operations, Intelliflix have shipping depots all over the country, so geographical proximity is less a factor in how long it will take you to get your movies than for many companies. This process is also sped up by having a feature on the website which allows you to let Intelliflix know when you have mailed a DVD back to them so they can send you your next batch momentarily.

The selection of titles is indeed very wide, and the search options quite slick. The selection system even allows you to drag and drop a movie from their list of titles into your own queue. Intelliflix also offer one of the most flexible queue-managment systems available on any DVD rental site. You can even create sub-accounts to allot specific numbers of rentals to other members of your family. Unlike most online DVD rental operations in the US, there is also a large selection of Adult (by which we mean PORN!) DVDs available, although Intelliflix have gone to the effort of making sure younger browsers are unable to access these pages on the website. Be warned: by "mature" movies they don't mean films for old folks (unless they're old folks who like PORN).

All in all, Intelliflix offers a slick, highly professional and competitive DVD rental service with a wide range of titles plus an equally eclectic selection of ways to choose them. And PORN.
